บ้านเรือนและชุมชนพื้นถิ่นนับเป็นภูมิทัศน์วัฒนธรรมที่สำคัญประเภทหนึ่งที่ เกี่ยวเนื่องกับการตั้งถิ่นฐานและมีพัฒนาการทางสภาพแวดล้อม สังคม การปกครอง วัฒนธรรม และเศรษฐกิจที่มีรูปแบบเฉพาะเป็นของแต่ละท้องถิ่น บ้านเรือนและชุมชนพื้นถิ่น เหล่านี ้นอกจากจะสะท้อนให้เห็นถึงความซับซ้อนทางสังคมวัฒนธรรมของแต่ละท้องที่ ในช่วง เวลาหนึ่ง ๆ แล้ว ยังสะท้อนให้เห็นภูมิปัญญาในการอยู่ร่วมกับสภาพแวดล้อม รวมถึงการใช้ ทรัพยากรและและเทคโนโลยีในการก่อสร้างได้อย่างเหมาะสม อย่างไรก็ตามพัฒนาการ ทางด้านเศรษฐกิจ สังคม และสภาพแวดล้อม และความเจริญก้าวหน้าทางเทคโนโลยีของ ประเทศ มีผลทาให้บ้านเรือนพื้นถิ่นเหล่านี ้ลดลงไปเป็นจำนวนมากในหลายท้องถิ่น และใน หลายกรณีถูกปรับเปลี่ยนไปในลักษณะที่ทำให้เกิดปัญหาด้านรูปแบบและเอกลักษณ์ของที่อยู่อาศัยของท้องถิ่น การเคหะแห่งชาติ โดยฝ่ายวิชาการพัฒนาที่อยู่อาศัย ได้ตระหนักถึงคุณค่า ของภูมิปัญญาของบ้านเรือนพื้นถิ่นที่สะท้อนความเป็นเอกลักษณ์ของท้องถิ่น และเป็นองค์ ความรู้ที่มีคุณค่าทั้งด้านศิลปวัฒนธรรม และเอกลักษณ์ที่หลากหลาย โครงการศึกษาวิจัย เพื่อจัดการความรู้เรื่องอัตลักษณ์และภูมิปัญญาด้านที่อยู่อาศัยของท้องถิ่น: กรณีศึกษาพื้นที่ ภาคตะวันออก จึงเกิดขึ้นโดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อรวบรวมองค์ความรู้รูปแบบที่อยู่อาศัยและวิถี การอยู่อาศัยของคนไทยในภาคตะวันออก มาจัดการความรู้ ประมวลเป็นสื่อชุดองค์ความรู้ใน รูปแบบต่างๆ รวมถึงการจัดทำสื่อมัลติมีเดียในรูปแบบพิพิธภัณฑ์เสมือน สำหรับเผยแพร่ผ่าน ระบบเครือข่ายอินเตอร์เน็ต อันจะเป็นแรงผลักดันให้สังคมเกิดการเรียนรู้ เกิดความรัก เกิด ความภาคภูมิใจในคุณค่า และนำมาซึ่งการอนุรักษ์และสืบสานมรดกทางวัฒนธรรมเหล่านี ้ให้ คงอยู่สืบไป โครงการวิจัยนี ้ได้ทำการศึกษาและสำรวจบ้านเรือนที่อยู่อาศัยลักษณะต่าง ๆ ที่ เป็นตัวแทนของภาคตะวันออก โดยวิธีการสังเกตและสัมภาษณ์ ได้ผลการศึกษาเป็น รายละเอียดแบบ 2 มิติ จำนวน 28 หลัง และจัดทำแบบ 3 มิติ จำนวน 7 หลัง และลักษณะ ทางอัตลักษณ์และภูมิปัญญาที่สำคัญ คือ การอยู่ร่วมกับลักษณะทางสภาพแวดล้อม รูปแบบ วิถีชีวิต และอัตลักษณ์ทางชาติพันธุ์<br><br>Vernacular houses and communities are considered to be one of the most important cultural landscapes relating to their unique local characteristics of habitation, and their development of environment, governance, socio- culture and economics. Apart from reflecting each community’ s complex cultural society in different periods of time, these local houses and communities also reveal people’ s ability in living harmoniously with their environment and wisely using appropriate resources and technology for construction. However, the development of the country has brought about rapid reduction of those houses in various localities. These vernacular houses have somehow modified in the ways generating the problems of identity conflict with local housings. Department of Housing Development Studies, National Housing Authority, has well realized local wisdom in housing construction reflecting communities’ uniqueness, which is priceless knowledge on unique Thai art and culture. A Study on Knowledge management of Thai identity and local wisdom on housing development: a case study in the Eastern region was established with aim to gather knowledge on housing and Thai’s ways of living in the Eastern region,and then synopsis and manage all data into various types of knowledge media, and virtual museum. All these knowledge media can then be disseminated to the public realms or internet. The definite goal is to drive social mobility in learning, appreciation, and dignity in those valuable cultural heritages, and thus bringing about conserving and sustaining them toward the future. For findings and the result of this study using methods of observation and interviews, 28 households were selected and studied for 2 dimensional details. Then, 7 houses were further selected for 3 dimensional details. The significance findings on Identity and local wisdom of vernacular houses and communities in the Eastern region are the living ability with given environment, way of living and ethnic identity.
