-<br><br>The objectives of this study were to study 1) a state of operation and conditions for success of the good practice done by the model village committee; 2) satisfaction towards the good practice and attitudes towards the directions of administrative village committee’s reform; 3) strategic development and an analysis of the village committee performance; and 4) critics and empirical proposals towards administrative village committee’s reform. Qualitative research method was mainly used. A mixed research methods was employed in this research. Cases were selected from 8 villages that had an excellent performance suggested by the Department of Provincial Administration, Ministry of Interior. Quantitative data were collected using a questionnaire from 400 samples. Qualitative data were collected using in-depth interviews and focus-group discussions. Secondary data were also collected from the relevant documents. Data were analysed using basic statistics including frequency, mean, percentage, and standard deviation, as well as content and documentary analyses. As for data validity, triangulation method was used in this research. The results showed that 1) the state of good practice and conditions for the successful performance of the model village committee can be explained and achieved by the eight selected villages performing their missions; 2) there was a high level of the satisfaction towards the good practice and the attitudes towards the direction of the administrative reform of the village committee; 3) the results of strategic development and analysis of the village committee’s performance led to sub-strategies to be used as guidelines to plan and then develop the mechanism of the village committee’s operations on their seven assigned missions; and 4) the results of critics and empirical proposals towards the administrative village committee’s reform through the consideration of the seven dimensions led to a accountable administrative reform of the village committee in providing public services in the future for the villages across Thailand.
